RIP Tommy Lund

We could hardly believe the terrible message we recieved Monday, February 17, when we heard that Tommy Lund had passed away. Tommy has been an important contributor to the Norwegian Blues News magazine for years; a job he has took very seriously, and a job he had a lot of passion and love for. He had his own excellent column in the magazine, Euro Blues, offering different news and perpectives from the continent. He contributed interviews with many different personalities in The Blues, and he was also responsible for updating the Blue News' English web pages.

Despite the fact that he was living in Weert, Holland, Tommy kept in very close contact with his homeland. The way he «was there» for us gave us the impression that he was living just around the corner from Blues News office in Grünerløkka, Oslo. Tommy wanted to contribute as much as he could to our magazine. He often took the initiative when it came to finding artists to interview, and never said no when the editor forwarded a request for a telephone interview or a «right-before-deadline-story».

In addition to being a valuable contributor to the magazine, he had became  friends with a lot of people in the Norwegian blues circuit. He became our friend at the magazine as well, despite the fact that none of us had ever met him. This says a lot about what kind of person Tommy was. He was a social person who was easy to talk to, keeping in close contact with his many friends through long telephone calls. He was also very active on social media sites, something he was very good at. Many have benefited from his skills, including the artist Mike Zito - one of Tommy's big favorites. He ran Mike’s fan club, and was key to promoting him on the net.

Several times, recently, Tommy mentioned all the plans he was making and the things he looked forward to doing in coming months. One of them was a trip to his beloved hometown, Trondheim, together with a long planned visit to Oslo. Something else he was looking forward to was the planning and the start up of a new Dutch music magazine together with his Dutch music colleagues. He was, of course, planning to contribute even more to the Blue News magazine.
It is so sad that everything has come to such a sudden end. Tommy, hope you can continue with your music where you are now. Rest in Peace.

We send our thoughts to Tommy's family in Norway and Holland.
