Lazy Lester in Norway
The Louisiana swamp blues legend Lazy Lester is touring in Norway this spring. Lester is best known for his recordings "Sugar Coated Love" and "I am a Lover, not a Fighter." Lester is 76 years old and still touring with his special Louisiana music, a blend of country, blues, cajun and rock and roll.

Lester's career started in the 50's in Louisiana, where he played with such greats as Slim Harpo and Lightnin 'Hopkins. He was discovered through his collaboration with Lightnin 'Slim, and will always be remembered for his recordings on Excello Records. The release of I am a Lover, not a Fighter, with Sugar Coated Love on the flip side, made him a star in 1958. His next release, I Hear you Knockin', also became a hit. He was an influential artist on the Excello label well into the 60's, and worked also as session musician for other great artists. In the 70's, Lester was out of the music business, before he in the mid 1980's made his comeback.
Now Lazy Lester is visiting Norway, and can be heard together with the Norwegian band Spoonful Of Blues: Morten Omlid on guitar, Jens Haugen on bass and Eskil Aasland on drums. He will also perform duo gigs together with Daniel Eriksen and Kjarten Edvardsen. Lazy Lester is also booked for this year's Notodden Blues Festival, where he plays 6 and 7 August at the club Carbiden.
